Accessibility
What is an accessible web site?
An accessible web site is a site on which accessibility barriers have been removed so that it can be viewed and used by any visitor. For a person who is blind, for example, an accessibility barrier can be a graphical navigation system without alternative texts. Another example is the fact that persons with visual impairments and older persons often have trouble reading smaller text sizes, differentiating between similar colours or viewing web sites with low visual contrast.
The web sites of BAWAG P.S.K. are now even easier to use!
The web sites of BAWAG P.S.K. (www.bawagpsk.com, www.bawag.com, www.psk.at) are now even easier to use and are virtually free of technical barriers.
BAWAG P.S.K. focused its most recent site updates on the W3C priority 1 and 2 Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 and also worked together with persons from groups targeted by these measures (50+, persons with visual impairments and blind persons) on the implementation of these guidelines.
The following improvements have been implemented and especially make the sites easier to use for older persons, persons with impaired vision and blind persons:
Text size adjustment and colour selection functions for
persons with vision impairments.
The user is notified in advance that a link will be opened
in a new window.
Links that have already been visited are labelled in a
different colour.
No pop-ups are used.
The web sites have been optimised for use with screen reader
programs and Braille line devices (alternative texts, frame
descriptions, jump labels, etc.)
Most of the web site content and functions can be accessed
without JavaScript.
The pages contain additional metadata for script languages,
page titles, creation dates and brief descriptions.
We orient our programming towards international standards.
Accessibility is a development process
Accessibility is a continual development process. For this reason, BAWAG P.S.K. will take accessibility into account for all newly developed web sites and Internet content (such as forms, e-banking, etc.) and will continue to optimise all of its web content according to these standards.
